@ Yicong Studio 2025

Yicong Li (李依丛) is a multidisciplinary Chinese artist and educator whose practice spans fiber art, performance, and sculpture. Working at the intersection of body, object, and spirit, Li creates soft sculptural forms that activate sensory experience and explore themes of identity, transformation, and healing. Her wearable pieces, crafted using traditional fiber techniques such as knitting and crocheting, often serve as masks, headdresses, and second skins, inviting the wearer into a meditative state of becoming.

Li is a member of the American Craft Council’s Early Career Artist Program. Li has exhibited internationally, with recent shows including "L’arte della Pesca – La Pesca nell’Arte" at the SIM School and Museum of Flyfishing (Pesca, Italy), "Mixing Identities" at the Rome International Art Fair (Italy), Narratives in Fiber”, Sault Area Art Center, (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan), and "Lumen" at Verum Ultimum Art Gallery (Portland, Oregan). Her solo exhibition, “Tendril,” was featured in the Artist Spotlight Series at the Peninsula School of Art in Wisconsin. Her work, “Vegetate,” was awarded First Prize at the “Dimensions: Contemporary Fiber Arts Exhibition” at the Warwick Center for the Arts in 2025.
Her work has been featured in “Masterful Minds Magazine”, “AITiba9 Contemporary Art”, “Circle Contemporary Quarterly”, and “Contemporary Art Issue”, which published an in-depth biography and showcase of her artworks. Li holds degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she first began combining performance with textile-based installations. Currently based in Chicago, she is also a participating artist at the Andersonville Galleria and remains active in both the local and international art scenes.
